A MAN who admitted sexual assault has avoided jail.

Umit Isikgun was handed a six month jail term suspended for two years at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 52-year-old, of Elianore Road, Colchester, inappropriately touched an adult in January.

The incident is said to have caused the woman anxiety and distress.

He must do 50 rehabilitation days and pay compensation of £250, a £122 victim surcharge and £105 costs.

As a sex offender he is now subject to notification requirements for seven years.

  • A MAN caught with cannabis has been fined £150.

Uzair Popalzai had the drugs in April and admitted possession of a class B substance at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 21-year-old, of Capstan Place, Colchester, must pay a further £177 in court fees. The drugs will be destroyed.

  • A MAN caught with a knife has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Alan O'Neill is also banned from leaving his home in Braiswick, Colchester, overnight for three months after being caught with the blade in Queen Street in February.

The 38-year-old admitted possession of a bladed article when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

He was given a 12 week prison term suspended for 18 months and must attend 30 rehabilitation sessions.

O'Neill must pay £233 in court fees and the knife will be destroyed.

Daniel Archer admitted a string of thefts from Tesco stores in Colchester when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, must pay £375 in compensation.

  • A THIEF has been fined £80 after stealing items from Superdrug.

Kevin Blair, 34, admitted shoplifting at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

Blair, of Haven Road, Colchester, must pay £139 in further court fees.

  • A MAN who assaulted two paramedics has been handed unpaid work.

Steven Donoghue admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and threatening behaviour when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The incident happened in Colchester in August.

The 32-year-old, of Cripplegate, Southminster, was given a community order.

He must also pay £100 compensation and £200 in other court charges.

  • A MAN has admitted going onto a building site with intent to steal.

Luke Smith, 20, went onto the Bloor homes development in Rowhedge when the homes were being built in 2018.

He also admitted handling stolen goods when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

Smith, of no fixed address, was given a community order with 40 rehabilitation days and 150 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay £190 in court fees.

Francis Ward had an illegal amount of cocaine in his system while driving an Audi A3 on the A134 in Colchester in February.

The 46-year-old admitted drug driving when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

Ward, of Wilkin Court, Colchester, must also pay £257 in court charges.

  • A VANDAL who caused £2,000 worth of damage to trains has avoided jail.

Simon Collins wrecked the stock at the Clacton Railway Depot and admitted criminal damage at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 48-year-old was handed a 12 week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

Collins, of Stanley Wooster Way, Colchester, must do 200 hours of unpaid work and pay back more than £2,000 in compensation.

  • A DRUG addict broke into the manager's office of a coffee shop.

Jason Keane admitted trespassing with intent to steal at Triple Two in Colchester town centre when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 47-year-old, of New Town Road, Colchester, was given a nine month drug rehabilitation requirement order.

He must pay £500 compensation and a pay a £10 nominal fine.

Nicholas Zurek had seven wraps in Colchester last December.

He admitted possession of a class A drug and failing to comply with a community order when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 46-year-old, of Ladbrook Drive, Colchester, must do 30 rehabilitation days and pay £200 in court fees.

The drugs will be destroyed.

  • TWO women must pay more than £700 each in compensation after admitting vandalising a car.

Chloe Mellors and Emine Macey admitting criminal damage when she appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

Mellors, 23, and Macey, 22, caused damage to the Fiat Punto last year.

The pair, both of Edward Paxman Gardens, Colchester, must pay £739 in compensation and were fined £80.

A MAN caught with a bamboo martial arts stick has been fined £200.

Leon Bond admitted possession of an offensive weapon in Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester, when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

The 40-year-old, of Coeur de Lion, Colchester, must also pay £137 in additional court fees.

The weapon will be destroyed.
