GENEROUS brothers are set to spread some Christmas joy to youngsters who will be spending the festive period in hospital.

Max and Liam Hunter will be collecting books to hand out to the children’s wards at Colchester, Ipswich and Broomfield hospitals.

It is the second year Max, nine, and Liam, seven, who go to Alresford Primary School, have collected books to give to youngsters in hospital.

It all stemmed from the boys’ own love of reading.

Their proud mother Lorraine said: “Last year they came up with the idea and they received nearly 500 donations of brand new books.

“We have been informed the books were well received by all the children on the wards.

“The idea is that every child on the ward is given a brand new book that they can keep.

“Max and Liam have a little sister, Lily-Mai, who is aged three and they all love books.”

The boys hope to collect as many donations as possible so they can bring a bit of joy.

Lorraine added: “They hope that the children can escape in a book and forget for a while all that they are going through.

“We are extremely proud of what they are doing and to help them we have set up a Facebook page and an Amazon wish list.

“Also the Metro bank in Colchester High Street has started to collect books and has said it would be happy to be a drop of point for donations of books which is great.”

All books need to be brand new due to infection control.
