A MAN has denied being involved in a hit and run incident.

Police launched an investigation after a brawl in Ipswich Road, Colchester, last month.

A group on bikes were reported to have been fighting before they were hit by a car.

Stirling Rose, 29, denied grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving during a short hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court.

He will now stand trial at some point in June next year.

Rose, now living in Kent, was bailed with conditions not to contact any prosecution witnesses, not to enter Colchester and to live and sleep each night at his home address.

Another man - James Martin - denied causing actual bodily harm to Rose in the same incident.

Martin, 28, and of no fixed address, also denied four counts of assaulting emergency workers including three police officers and a paramedic.

A trial date has yet to be set for him.
