ARMED police were involved in a drug raid which saw two teenagers arrested.

Residents were stunned as several officers holding large guns descended on a property near Riverside Walk, Colchester.

People heading to and from their homes were stopped as police conducted their investigation.

The warrant was executed on Tuesday at roughly 2.30pm.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A warrant was carried out near Riverside Walk, Colchester.

"Two teenagers were arrested.

"A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of class B drugs.

"A second teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

"Both remain in custody."

One resident living nearby reported seeing half a dozen officers in the area, close to the alleyway which leads to the skatepark in Cowdray Avenue.

"There were at least six officers and four were armed," she said.

"They even stopped my partner on the way to the school run asking him where he was going.

"There is always loads of police on this estate.

"I think it is getting worse.

"I think it’s to do with drug problems in a block of flats which causes so much trouble.

"I’ve lived on this estate for ten years.

"It was lovely back then but it’s getting worse."
