POLICE are guarding a building site after emergency services rushed to the scene this morning.
Several police cars and an ambulance were seen at the site in Moss Road, Stanway, on Thursday at 9.30am close to Stanway Retail Park.
Police were still there two hours later.
Nobody could be seen working at the construction site.
One onlooker said he saw a huge amount of emergency services as he left the gym.
"I saw four police cars to start with and then an undercover car arrive with what looked like a detective," he said.
"Then an ambulance arrived.
"All the workers were led off the site and it looked like the whole thing was shut off.
"You could not really see what had happened.
"In the end there were about eight officers.
"I see them working all the time when I am in and out of the gym."
