A MOBILE knife arch was set up in Colchester town centre to deter people from carrying blades.
Officers and security were in attendance as it was used in Red Lion Yard.
The tactic is part of Essex Police's work with Operation Sceptre which aims to tackle serious violence, particularly knife crime, and address the causes of why people choose to carry weapons.
A spokesman for Colchester Police said: "Both the Town Team and the Community Team will continue to use the knife arch in different locations around Colchester."
