AN unfortunate motorist saw their car swallowed up by the water after parking at West Mersea.
Mr Summer said numerous paddleboarders watched on helplessly as the car drifted out at 3.30pm.
He said: "Obviously it is somebody who doesn't know to much about the tides and they got caught out.
"There were lots of people there but by the time it was into the water there was nothing anyone could really do.
"I think the car is going to be wrecked.
"It was so far into the water.
"It'll be an interesting one to try and claim on the insurance."
