A SUPERMARKET chain is set to open a branch inside a popular homeware store in Colchester.

Frozen food experts Iceland will be opening its fourth store in the town inside The Range, in Mason Road off Cowdray Avenue.

From Friday, September 18, as well as items from its 16 different departments, including a garden centre and cafe, the store will now offer the full-range of Iceland goods, including fresh fruit and veg, dairy, meat and store cupboard staples.

The retailers formed a strategic alliance in August 2018 and have since launched several of the ventures in other stores across the UK.

The launch at The Range Colchester will be the 67th Iceland store inside a Range shop so far, with many more planned over the coming months.

Chris Dawson, owner and founder of The Range, said: “The Range’s massive non-food selection combined with Iceland’s unique food offering will provide customers with all their everyday essentials under one roof.

“I think our customers will be surprised and delighted to view the extent and quality of Iceland’s food selection when we launch in Colchester next month.”

Several changes have been made at The Range Colchester to make it easier for customers to shop.

Additional measures have also been implemented to enable social distancing and make stores as safe as possible for shoppers.

Markers and directional signs are in place, there are sanitising stations at the entrance and contactless car payments are encouraged wherever possible.

Iceland already has stores in St John’s Walk and at the Turner Rise Retail Park in Colchester as well as at Tollgate in Stanway.

The Range Colchester is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and Sunday 10.30am to 4.30pm.
