Colchester Zoo have revealed they will not re-open their soft play area today, despite lockdown rules easing across the country.

The zoo shared their concerns about re-opening Jungle Tumble at this time, after stringent guidance was rolled out in order for soft play areas to re-open safely.

The team have announced that it would not be viable to re-open under the current guidance and have decided to remain closed for the time being to keep visitors and staff safe.

Soft play centres, casinos and bowling alleys were amongst the services which are allowed to open again today.

A spokesperson from Colchester Zoo, said: "Following the Government announcement on August 13 that indoor soft play areas may reopen from the August 15, we have analysed the reopening guidance and measures required to take place to reopen safely.

"Visitor and staff safety is paramount to us; therefore, we have reservations and concerns for reopening our soft play area at this moment in time.

"The guidance is stringent for indoor soft play areas and as we aim for Jungle Tumble to remain a free activity for visitors to enjoy, it would not be viable for us to reopen under the current guidance.

"Therefore, until the restrictions on reopening such an activity are eased, we feel it would not be wise for us to reopen Jungle Tumble.

"We are sorry for any disappointment caused but thank you for your understanding and continued support during this difficult time."
