PART of the A12 is set to be closed overnight later this month for resurfacing works.

Highways England will be shutting the north and southbound carriageways between junction 27 for Spring Lane and junction 29 at the Crown Interchange.

The work is expected to take place over three weeks from Monday August 10.

Parts of the road will be shut from 8pm to 6am each day.

It will see the road resurfaced and road markings repainted.

The work will be split across two phases with the first seeing the northbound carriageway closed.

It will run from Monday August 10 to Tuesday August 25.

A diversion will be via junction 27, the A133, A1232 and then rejoining the A12 at junction 29.

The second phase will see the southbound junction 29 exit slip closed from Tuesday August 25 to Thursday August 27.

Southbound traffic wanting to exit the A12 and join the A120 will have to travel up to junction 28 and back on the northbound A12.

Highways England will also inspect the safety barriers on the southbound carriageway.

As a result a lane closure will be needed between junction 29 and 27 with a 50mph speed limit in place.
