HIGH levels of coronavirus-related sickness are the likely cause of delays to postal deliveries in Colchester, Royal Mail has said.

Residents in many areas of the town have report unexpected delays to deliveries since the pandemic hit the UK.

Some residents in the CO4 postcode have reported not receiving any post for more than two weeks.

Royal Mail says despite its best efforts, the crisis has caused problems with its services.

A spokesman said: "We have always said that despite our best endeavours, it is likely some areas of the country will experience a reduction in service levels.

"Relevant factors include high levels of coronavirus-related absences and necessary social distancing measures.

"We keep our customers updated on changes to our services as far as possible."
