MEMBERS of a popular silver band have been entertaining residents during the weekly Clap For Carers event.

With the help of family pooch Eddy - Owen, Reece, Trevor and Lindsay have been performing for their Boxted neighbours in their garden.

The group are all members of Boxted Methodist Silver Band, which has been forced to cancel all of its performances due to the lockdown.

But with virtual meetings amongst members taking place on Wednesdays, Owen, Reece, Trevor and Lindsay have been using the Thursday claps to practice further.

Boxted Methodist Silver Band, which is the only Methodist Band in the country, are still fundraising to buy Boxted Methodist School Room, which has been their home since it was built in 1907.

Colchester Methodist Circuit closed the Boxted Chapel last summer and is selling both the chapel and school room, but the band is playing hopes to raise enough cash to purchase it as an asset of community value.

They have until August 10 to raise the necessary £145,000. With fundraising events cancelled, donations are invited.
