A former Basildon police officer accused of abusing his position for a sexual purpose has been charged.
Jonathan McLeod, 34, who was based in Basildon but resigned from the force in March, is due to appear in court in July, the police watchdog said.
He has been charged with four counts of sexual touching following in an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The probe focused on complaints from a woman in January last year alleging McLeod had abused his position for a sexual purpose.
Evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service CPS at the end of the investigation on December 2019.
McLeod is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on July 28 and will also face a gross misconduct hearing, the IOPC said.
