THREE new deaths related to coronavirus have been confirmed at Colchester Hospital.

Latest data showed there had been no new deaths at Colchester yesterday, April 2. 

But the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust confirmed there had been 17 deaths added to the statstics. 

Fourteen of the deaths were at Ipswich Hospital and three were at Colchester Hospital.

They have all been reported today due to an administrative error identified in linking internal reporting to the national reporting process.

This was immediately corrected once it was identified.

It covers a three week period. 

Nick Hulme, Chief Executive of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust said: “I apologise for any confusion or distress caused by this oversight.

"Our staff have been and will continue to support the families and loved ones of patients who have sadly died in our hospitals.”

Basildon and Southend Hospitals, along with the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust based in Runwell recorded no new deaths from those who tested positive from the virus.

There were also no new deaths in Broomfield Hospital.

However, one Covid-19 patient sadly died at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

Latest data showed there had been no new deaths at Colchester 

There were 604 new deaths in England in the past day from the virus, bringing the total to 3,302.

Patients were aged between 24 and 100 years old.  34 of the 604 patients (aged between 27 and 92 years old) had no known underlying health condition.  

Their families have been informed.
