A YOUNG Oswestry golfer is eyeing up more success after adding a haul of club and county titles to her list of honours.

Ellie Potts, junior captain at Henlle Park Golf Club, has continued her success of recent years after winning eight club competitions and captaining her Shropshire County team to titles.

Her club success included becoming the Ladies Club Champion, the Ladies Summer Knockout Champion, the Kathy Evans Bowl Winner and the Beryl Aubrey Trophy winner.

On top of that, Ellie has won four monthly stableford competitions and has enjoyed pairs success, winning the Jane Roberts Greensomes with partner Beryl Aubrey, and the Ping Pairs four-ball better ball with partner Rosemary Craven.

At county level, Ellie became county captain at the Shropshire Ladies County Golf Association junior fundraising coffee morning, which was held at The Shropshire Golf Complex, Telford.

Ellie will be supported by vice-captain Xyra Van Der Merwe.

The pair helped to raise more than £1,900 at the annual fundraiser.

She helped Shropshire retain the Tri-Counties Trophy for the third time in four years.

Ellie played four matches for the Shropshire Girls Scratch Team, winning two and losing two games.

She also won the girls’ lowest gross score at Shropshire and Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs Boys & Girls Handicap Championships. Ellie also picked up the girls’ lowest gross score at The Cleobury Mortimer Junior Open

And she is hoping for more youngsters across the region to follow in her footsteps, as she has become one of the Shropshire’s Golfing ambassadors who aim to get children involved with golf.
