ESSEX University staff are set to walk out of lectures for 14 days from today in a row over pay and pensions.
Members of the University and College Union will strike between today and March 13 following votes in favour of industrial action.
The action will begin with two days of strikes and culminate in a full week walkout.
The strikes will take place on February 20, 21, 24, 25 and 26; and from March 2-5 and 9-13.
The strikes will hit 74 universities across the UK.
UCU members backed strike action in two separate disputes – one on pensions and one on pay and working conditions.
It is not yet known what impact this will have on students studying at the Wivenhoe campus.
Essex University said it would be making a "goodwill payments" to students who have lectures or classes cancelled.
