FOODIES will be able to enjoy a sausage and cider festival when it comes to Colchester for the first time.

The event will be held at Charter Hall in Colchester on May 23.

Attendees will be able to enjoy variety of delicious sausages which organisers say you won't find in your local supermarket.

This includes everything from cranberry and Stilton to traditional Bratwurst and event a vegan option.

There will also be a host of interesting cider flavours with chocolate and tropical on the list of tipples available.

A spokesman for the Sausage and Cider Festival said: "We source from the finest butchers around the UK choosing the quirkiest and most adventurous sausages to bring to our festivals.

"We love real cider, so we have over 25 different types available.

"We scour all corners of the UK looking for the finest, sweetest and tastiest cider money can buy.

"Including nothing but the best flavours you may not have seen, including rum cider, chocolate cider, tropical and of course your traditional apple to name a few."

For those who don't drink cider there will also be beer, gin, Prosecco and soft drinks.

There will be competitions on the day including a contest to see who can eat the most sausages in two minutes and a chilli eating competition.

Organisers will also put on live music with a house band and DJ acts.

There will be two sessions lasting five hours each.

The first takes place from midday to 5pm and the second from 6pm until 11pm.

Tickets are £10 and only over 18s can attend.
