AN extra lane could be reopened in the Ipswich Road works in a bid to ease congestion.
In its latest update on the scheme, contractor Eurovia has announced it is set to open a second lane approaching the roundabout.
This set up will be trailed to see whether it is compatible with the ongoing piling works, however it may have to be abandoned due to safety concerns.
Ipswich Road south remains closed until February 24.
Drivers have faced regular delays through the roadworks due to the latest closure.
The work is the next phase of the £10million Ipswich Road improvement scheme which has been under way since September 2018.
The project, which will see single roundabouts replacing double roundabouts at the bottom of Ipswich and Harwich roads, is due to be completed at some point in the summer.
