ANGRY residents have launched an appeal for witnesses after yobs targeted a series of cars in a vandalism spree.
Jessica Newberry, 24, of Valley Road, Dovercourt, said she found her car’s passenger window smashed yesterday morning when she was heading out to work at 6.10am.
She believes the incident had happened about four hours earlier. Luckily nothing was stolen but Jessica was left fuming.
She said: “I feel furious. The fact that people have to go to work, whether it is full-time or part-time, to earn money in order to have these things in life, yet you get some inconsiderate people who think it’s all right or funny to vandalise somebody’s car.
“It is disgusting because it resulted in me having a loss of earnings.
“I couldn’t go to work due to the window being smashed and needing to call the police, as well as arranging to get the window fixed with my insurance company.
“It’s a whole day of 13 and a half hours of work lost. There was another car down my road with a window smashed.”
Jessica, who works at Mistley Manor care home, in Long Road, Mistley, said she was talking to another woman who lives in the same road who said expensive items were stolen from her car.
The care worker said both her and her neighbour reported the incidents to the police but she was informed the police won’t be able to investigate.
She added: “I’m disgusted and disappointed because they always talk about protecting the community and yet they still dismissed my case.”
Jade Mansfield, who lives in the same road, said valuables were taken from her car on the same night after she accidentally left it unlocked.
She said she saw a CCTV footage where she saw “two blokes” committing their crimes.
Residents reported another car in Ramsey Road was also vandalised on the same night.
A spokesman for Essex Police said they won’t be able to investigate the cases unless they receive a CCTV footage or witnesses come forward.
