WATCH: Shocking CCTV footage shows yobs vandalising Bradford house

The incident, which was captured on CCTV, unfolded on Tuesday afternoon on Copley Street in the Little Horton area.

It shows the group of around 10 youths, some wearing school uniform, congregating on the street before swaggering over to the house to begin their brazen attack in broad daylight.

One of the group runs up and and kicks the front of the house, before another joins in.

Others appear to egg them on, before more join in.

A number of missiles are then launched at the house, which is currently empty and in the process of being renovated.

Police are now scrutinising the footage in the hope of bringing those responsible to justice and a ward councillor has vowed to raise the issue at a meeting today.

It’s a frustrating situation for owner Zhear Ahmed, 50, who says he dreads his phone ringing for fear of yet another attack on the house.

He’s been left reeling after the latest one - and the shocking footage captured.

These photographs show the state the house has been left in with a smashed door covered in kick marks, a broken window pane and boarded up windows.

Mr Ahmed, who lives in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, said of the footage: “I was horrified.

“It’s broad daylight, they’ve got uniform on - they’re not fussed.

“Anybody that sees that, it’s shocking. The fact they can do it that, so brazenly, there’s no fear. It’s a laugh for them.”

Damage to the house

He added: “What makes it even worse, they’ve been in the house, they know it’s empty, they know it’s a shell.

“It’s wanton destruction for the sake of destruction. There’s nothing for them, it’s mindless vandalism.”

Mr Ahmed said the issues are part of a wider problem on the street, leaving residents “terrified”.

One man working on the house even refused to go back.

Now, when the phone rings, it’s met with a sense of dread.

“The phone rang and it was a neighbour - I saw ‘01274’ and thought ‘not again, please’.

“She rang, I knew something had happened.”

The situation is all the more frustrating as it can be a 40 minute journey to get to the house to sort the problem out.

Councillor Joanne Dodds (Lab, Great Horton) - whose ward covers Copley Street - has spoken of her concern at the situation.

She described it as a “historic problem” and said a snicket comes out on to the road, which then leads to Southfield Lane.

“We have had problems over the years with vandalism, litter, congregating - it’s really difficult.”

She said: “It’s just mindless vandalism. It’s intimidating and frightening for the people who live there - nobody should have to live in fear in their own home.

“I think there’s some serious work to be done around finding out who these people are and making sure it does not happen again."

She urged the culprits to “have some respect” and said: “They would not like if it happened to them or members of their family.

“I don’t understand what they get out of it. You should have respect and have pride in your area and community - not have this kind of behaviour.

“It’s unacceptable.”

She said she would speak to police to find out what action is being taken. A ward meeting is being held today and Cllr Dodds said she would raise the issue.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: “We are reviewing this footage and making enquiries to identify those involved.

"Anyone who can assist is asked to contact the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 or by using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website."
