A SUPER slimmer has battled to lose five stones in weight after being told by his doctor that he would die if he didn’t lose weight.

Barry Price, who weighed in at 27 stones, was told his blood pressure and cholesterol were extremely high during a check up at his doctor’s.

Barry, who said he piled on the pounds after eating cream teas and pasties while living in Cornwall, was warned if he didn’t make changes, he would die.

But he has now changed his life around after joining Slimming World and has already lost almost 20per cent of his body weight.

He said: “I got to the point where I was so fed up of people staring at me and judging me for how big I was.

“The doctor telling me that I could die really hit home.

“I didn’t want to die at 53, so I knew I needed to change something.”

Since joining the weight loss group, Barry has lost a total of 5stone 3lbs.

He added: “When I first joined group, I never dreamt that I would be in the position I am now.

“Losing weight has made such a big difference to my life.

“My blood pressure and cholesterol are now normal and that is thanks to Slimming World.”

Barry, who lives in Clacton, said he has also made significant changes with how he cooks, shops and eats.

He added: “I can still enjoy my favourite foods. One of my favourite quick easy meals is jacket potato and beans.

“It’s so filling and these are both a free food on Slimming World, meaning you can eat them an unlimited amount.

“I know it can feel like a big step joining Slimming World because you don’t know what to expect.

“But right from the first moment I walked into my group, I was made to feel at ease and the support I’ve received has been amazing.”

Tracy Lynn, who runs the group, said she was proud of Barry and his staggering achievement.

She said: “He is fantastic ambassador for Slimming World and what he has achieved is nothing short of incredible.”

She added: “He is a huge inspiration to everyone in our group and I hope he inspires other women and men in Clacton to change their lives in the same way.”
