AN academy trust which runs a dozen schools across north Essex is consulting on changes to its admissions policy.

The Sigma Trust is proposing to implement a common admissions criteria for all of its academies from 2021/21.

The proposed new policy centres around priority admission areas for all of its schools.

A reduction in the number of places at Monkwick Infant and Nursery School in Colchester from 90 to 60 pupils, is planned.

Sigma also plans to increase the number of places at Clacton County High School from 279 to 308 students.

This number could further increase, along with an increase at the Colne Community School and College in Brightlingsea, once expansion projects are complete.

Sigma Trust runs Monkwick Infant and Nursery, Monkwick Junior, Paxman Academy, St Helena, Stanway, Philip Morant and Thomas Lord Audley schools in Colchester.

It also runs Alton Park Junior, Holland Park and Harwich and Dovercourt schools in the Tendring district.

A consultation on the changes will run until Tuesday, January 28.
