A SOUTHAMPTON man has been jailed after he assaulted two police officers.

Paul Stuart Ian Deacon appeared in court after he assaulted two police officers on October 19 by beating.

The 30-year-old also damaged ashtrays belonging to The Admiral Lucius Curtis in Ocean Village and windows belonging to Leaders Estate Agents on London Road, Southampton, on October 7.

Deacon, of Hill Lane, Southampton, pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates' Court to two accounts of causing damage to property and to two accounts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating.

Deacon was sentenced to four weeks concurrent for damaging the windows and ashtrays, as well as a further 20 weeks for assaulting the first police officer and a consecutive 20 weeks for assaulting the second officer - meaning he will serve a total of 40 weeks in jail.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £149.
