SOUTHEND United have confirmed that all of their squad have now been paid and tomorrow's game with Tranmere Rovers will be going ahead.

Members of the Shrimpers squad and the backroom staff, including the stewards, had been waiting for their December wages which were due on New Year's Eve.

But a club statement has confirmed that the situation has now been sorted.

The statement said: "With a lot of rumours about a potential postponement of tomorrow’s game, Southend United Football Club can reassure supporters that the game is, and was always, going ahead.

"We can confirm that all players have been paid following a delay in receipt of funds over the Christmas “shut down” until last Monday. This has been rectified and our focus is on adding players to the squad in the January transfer window.

"We are actively looking to bring in players, whilst others move on in this window, to strengthen Sol Campbell’s squad during the second half of the season.

"Following the end of this recent blip we’re back on track now and look forward to, again, witnessing the improving performances; starting tomorrow."
