POLICE have urged people who accidentally call 999 to stay on the line.
West Yorkshire’s Contact Management Centre often tweet some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.
But on this occasion they have tweeted to reassure residents to hang on the phone line - even if the call is not made intentionally.
If you have dialled 999 by accident, either yourself of your child, then please stay on the line as it is much more easier for us to deal with. Staying on the line makes it more efficient for us to deal with the call. Thank you 👮♂️👮♀️😀

This follows two different occasions this week when people have wrongly used the service for more unusual calls.
An angry caller rang the emergency line to ask the service to ring their doctors as they were fed up of waiting 30 minutes to try to get through.
Earlier this month a caller rang the number complaining they could not get chicken nuggets from a branch of McDonald’s.
