TRADITIONALLY, the first few weeks after Christmas and New Year and are quiet periods for many and that includes shows and act.

But we have managed to find a few things that might take your fancy which are taking place in Bradford this weekend

Saturday - Enchanted Wood Family Show - National Science and Media Museum, Bradford.

Visitors Cottingley fairies and fly through a world of light and shadow in this storytelling adventure—perfect for younger visitors.

It is suitable for families with children aged three and over

The 20-minute shows will run at 11am and 12.30 at the museum’s Wonderlab Studio, Level 3.

Exploring Space family show – Makespace, Level 4, National Science and Media Museum

Visitors will find out how we use telescopes, satellites and rockets to explore our universe.

It will also feature British astronaut Tim Peake as he blasts off in his Soyuz rocket.

Suitable for families with children aged seven and over.

The 25-minute shows will be held at 2pm and 3.30pm on Sunday at the museum’s Wonderlab Studio, Level 3.

The Forgotten Showman Family Activities – free, Makespace, Level 4, National Science and Media Museum, Bradford – both days

Visitors will get to create their own comic book and see interactive 3D animation in action.

Comic Book Creators will be held on Saturday between 1.30pm and 4pm and from 10am to 1pm on Sunday.

Suitable for families with children aged five and over.

Moving Models Demo

The demos will take place throughout both days at the site.

Before film was invented, the Victorians used zoetropes to create moving pictures.

The museum’s events will feature a demonstration to see 4-Mation, an interactive 3D zoetrope which uses modern technology to create amazing moving models!

Suitable for families with children aged five and over, but the demonstrations includes strobing light.

Saturday - Sandi Toksvig – St George’s Hall

The Great British Bake-off co-presenter returns to Bradford with her one-woman comedy show.

Some people may see her as a National Treasure but following a misunderstanding with a friend she wants to be known as a National Trevor – half misprint, half Danish comedian, novelist, actor and broadcaster.

The show is billed to show off her quick wit and will also include a quick-fire question and answers session and a quiz.

Saturday - Winter Birds at Denso Marston Nature Reserve Guided Walk - free

Nature lovers can enjoy the great outdoors as participants will look for winter birds and also look at the food we can feed them. Visitors will also have the chance to make fat balls.

Meet at the public footpath opposite the Otley Road, Baildon lay-by near St James Church at 10am for the two-hour session.

All Weekend - The Bradford pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, starring Billy Pearce, Faye Tozer and Paul Chuckle continues this weekend at the Alhambra Theatre.

Shows will be on at 7.15pm Friday night, Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.15pm and on Sunday at 1pm and 5pm. The run continues until January 26.

Two exhibitions continue; Jowett 10 Conservation Project (which runs until March 1).

Bradford Museums and Galleries will be working with the Jowett Car Club to conserve and restore a Jowett 10 owned by Bradford Museums service.

A Flawed Peace? by The Peace Museum (which runs until January 26).

In Gallery in the Mill at Bradford Industrial Museum, The Peace Museum presents A Flawed Peace? an exhibition exploring post-war peace marking the First World War Centenary.
