FAMILIES came together to enjoy the universal language of laughter during a special yoga session in Wivenhoe.

Residents of all ages gathered at Wivenhoe Business Centre for a morning of laughter yoga - an exercise class which encourages prolonged voluntary laughter.

Organised by holistic therapy business Your Space, the session saw participants play games involving balloons and the like designed to get people chuckling.

Wivenhoe resident Sarah McCaskey has been teaching yoga for more than a decade.

She said: “There are a whole series of laughter yoga games designed to get people moving around and interacting with each other.

“There is no pressure to laugh but inevitably someone will start laughing and once one person does it often starts everyone.

“I have done laughter yoga workshops in workplaces, at hen dos, with brownie groups and with students at university.

“It works really well in a family setting and it brings about lovely interactions between the generations.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and said they had a good time.

“We all get a bit too serious sometimes and laughter yoga is a way of combatting that.”
