HUNDREDS of pounds have been donated by councillors to help feed hungry families in Monkwick.
The Monkwick Munch Club is one of a number of lunch clubs in Colchester, aimed at feeding children and their families who cannot afford to cook during the school holidays.
Three Berechurch councillors - Dave Harris, Martyn Warnes and Chris Pearson - donated £900 from their budgets and handed it over to the Munch Club.
Mr Harris said he was delighted to donate the cash.
He said: “This is to ensure children and families in Berechurch are able to use the lunch club in school holidays to get a staple meal.
“Martyn Warnes, and Chris Pearson and I are adamant families in the Berechurch community are protected.”
