Four motorists can expect letters in the post from police after failing to comply with a red X signifying that a motorway lane was closed.
The roads policing team revealed that a police officer was nearly run over by one of the vehicles during the incident on the M62 in West Yorkshire.
The emergency lane closure had been put in place after a crash on the eastbound carriageway on Tuesday night.
West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: “M62 E J29 - J30 RTC whereby lane 1 had been closed. Four vehicles have been caught on Body Worn Video contravening the Red X. The 4th nearly ran an officer over. All 4 will receive letters in the post. Please Don't Ignore the Red X. It's there for a reason!”
