ROCHFORD Hundred roared back to winning ways with a 25-16 win at Dorking.

Hundred had suffered a shock home defeat to CS Stags 1863 last time out.

And Sam Arnott was pleased to help Rochford get back on track by bagging two tries in an important London & SE Premier Division victory.

“It was very pleasing because we had to get back to our winnings ways and we would have taken any win prior to the game,” said Arnott.

“But the performance was very pleasing and very workmanlike.

“We gifted them 15 points if we’re honest, but I felt we controlled the whole game.

“Hopefully last week’s loss will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. As it stands we can’t afford to be complacent in any of our remaining fixtures.

“But sometimes when you’re used to winning every weekend it’s only human nature and can creep in.”

The away victory keeps Rochford third in the standings, level on points with second-placed Guernsey and six points behind league leaders Wimbledon.

But Arnott was pleased with the all round team performance at the weekend.

“The conditions weren’t great but we played in the right areas,” said Arnott.

“Our pack really stood up, especially at scrum time, plus our backs scored some great tries so it was pleasing all round.”

And Arnott was also pleased to make an impact after a spell on the sidelines injured.

“I’ve had an ankle injury for a month so it was good to be back out there,” said Arnott.

“But I’m not quite sure my lungs would agree with me on that one!”

Arnott scored two tries for Hundred in the victory while Danny Cleare and Michael Guess also touched down.

The rest of Rochford’s points came from the boot of Cameron Greenhall.

Hundred are without a game this weekend before they return to action at home to Sevenoaks.
