AN animal rights group has launched a video with some feathered friends to present the idea of a meat-free Christmas dinner.
Animal Aid’s Their Christmas Wish campaign shines a light on turkeys who have been saved, mostly from the meat industry.
Turkeys Audrey and Maria were rescued from the same farm.
The two were destined to be used for meat in 2018, but their release was negotiated.
They now live at Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary in Asheldham.
Campaign manager Tod Bradbury said: “Christmas is often touted as the season of peace and good-will to all, and that should include animals.
“Our Their Christmas Wish campaign gives people the opportunity to see turkeys, who are eaten in huge numbers at this time of year, as the unique, intelligent individuals they are.
“Above all they deserve to live free from harm and suffering.
“By supporting Their Christmas Wish you will be saving animals from suffering.”
Those who sign up to support the campaign will receive a free copy of the Have a Very Vegan Christmas recipe book.
Tod added: “Not only are there plenty of amazing recipes available, but vegan festive options are available everywhere.”
