A TIPTREE firm revealed the secrets of their success as part of an ITV show.

Wilkin & Sons, famous for its Tiptree jam, featured on Made in Britain.

The award-winning show is a celebration of British manufacturing – from the mass produced to the hand crafted.

TV cameras went behind the scenes to reveal how their world-famous jams and preserves are made.

The firm, which has been going for more than 130 years, makes 60 million jars of jam and preserves a year and uses a unique table top growing system for strawberries.

Chris Newenham, joint managing director of Wilkin & Sons, said: “We grow 20 different types of fruit on our farm.”

The jam factory has seen Tiptree grow around it and it employs many local workers.

The ITV4 show, narrated by actor and comedian Ricky Tomlinson, is a tribute to the army of makers, inventors and innovators that make Great Britain a manufacturing powerhouse.

As well as Wilkin & Sons viewers discovered how many recycled plastic bottles go into making an eco bed, the secrets of making a clock and how a razor is taking on the world.

Made in Britain is on ITV4 at 8pm on Wednesdays.
