PARENTS will be able to find out about plans for a new 420-place primary school in Stanway.

Essex County Council plans to open the school, known as Lakelands, in September 2020.

The school, off Christopher Garnett Chase on the Lakelands estate, will be built by Barnes Construction and Concertus Design and Property Consultants.

It has now been announced the Chelmsford Learning Partnership has been awarded sponsorship of the school.

The trust, which runs seven other schools across the county, will hold a series of information events for parents of prospective students.

They will take place at the Holiday Inn, in Abbotts Lane, Eight Ash Green, and each session lasts an hour.

The session take place on Wednesday November 13 at 1.30pm and 7pm, Thursday December 12 at 1.30pm and 7pm.

At the sessions parents will get the opportunity to meet the trust team, find out about plans for the new school, including the curriculum offer and how to apply for a place at the school.

The trust said: “The trust is delighted to announce that we have been awarded sponsorship of the new Lakelands Primary School.

“The school will provide primary school places for residents of the development and the surrounding area.

“We are excited the new school will join our highly successful family of schools to provide an outstanding provision for the community.”

Plans for the school were submitted in June and were approved by the county council’s planning team last month.

The two-storey school will include outdoor play space, an all-weather playing pitch, landscaping, staff parking and supporting infrastructure.
