A GEOGRAPHY teacher who wowed the nation with her baking skills says she is proud to have made it to the final of Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off.

Alice Fevronia, 28, of Burnham, was one of the last three contestants in the show’s tenth series.

The final showstopper involved contestants making a pastry picnic in which Alice made carrot cake in the shape of scotch eggs.

The finalists were also asked to write a letter about their experience throughout the whole competition.

Alice wrote: “I sent off my application for GBBO dangerously close to the deadline and my audition was the very last slot on the last day.

“To fast forward to now and to have made it to the final day has barely sunk in.

“I’m incredibly proud to have stood in that tent with the other 12 bakers.

“The amount of talent in there blew me away, but not as much as the kindness and support of those both in front of and behind the cameras.

“I’m so grateful for the experience – it was full of highs and emotions, but above all there were wonderful people sharing a passion.

“Being a part of the Bake Off family means the world to me, and I will be forever grateful for the friendships.”

Rival baker David Atherton won this year’s competition.

However, Alice was still happy after the final results were announced.

Commenting on the finale, which was broadcast on Tuesday night, she said: “David blew us out of the water there.

“The best baker won and I’m feeling great.

“I’m really proud of myself and I can leave with my head held high – it is just the best feeling.”

Alice’s parents previously owned the Serenity Dental Surgery in Station Road during her childhood in Burnham.
