CLACTON'S golfers suffered disappointment in the weather-delayed final of the Thornton Cup Plate competition, against Boyce Hill.
They were defeated by stronger opposition at the neutral venue of Stoke by Nayland.
Meanwhile, Clacton's ladies played in their last gold leaf event of the year.
The Barton Trophy is a test of stamina and concentration, over two rounds and 36 holes.
Katy Yates was the winner with 146 points, followed by Cheryl Stepton on 147 and Hoon Locke on 159.
For the other ladies who played an 18-hole stableford, Judy Speck came first with 29 points.
Mary Cole was second, with 28, and Maxine Baker third, with 27.
Clacton's juniors commenced their winter junior Top Dog stableford competition and Henry Goodwin won with 38 points, on countback from Maxwell Robertson.
Milo Locke was third.
