TWO local actors are starring in a film being screened to raise money for dementia sufferers.

The Prince of Wales pub, in Stow Maries, is showing short film The Tree tomorrow to raise money for Dementia Friends.

Jan Rook and Rob Johnson, who both live in South Woodham Ferrers, star in the 30-minute story, with Rob taking the lead role.

The plot revolves around an old man who has dementia.

He is given £150 by his carer to pay his council tax but instead finds himself drawn to an antique movie projector in a charity shop.

He runs a film called The Tree and falls in love with its leading lady.

He becomes obsessed with finding the tree used in the film, thinking it will lead him to the love of his life –against the advice of family and friends.

Jan said: “I was recommended to writer and director James Sharpe from Shenley for another short film.

“When we got together, he told me of The Tree which he had been wanting to film for some years.

“We discussed it and I thought of Rob as the main character as he had the right demeanour.

“James auditioned him and cast him from that, so that is how he got involved.

“He played the old man with dementia and I played his wife.

“We started filming in May and finished reshoots in September.”

The show starts at 8.30pm.

A collection will held for charity.

The film is also available on YouTube.
