TWO schools are joining forces to host a fireworks spectacular.

Home Farm Primary School and Prettygate Infant and Junior School in Colchester have come together to organise the event.

The Big Bang Family Fireworks Night is expected to play host to more than 2,000 people.

With a top quality display from Dynamic Fireworks, along with fairground rides, glow stick dancers, a bar and plenty of warming food, the event is expected to raise valuable funds for the two schools.

Elizabeth Humphries, chairwoman of the parent association Friends of Prettygate, said: “Home Farm has run a successful fireworks night for some years but we now want to be able to grow the event further and host a new event for the whole community.

“Everyone in the area has always loved having a great fireworks night right on their doorstep, so it is fantastic to be able to build an even bigger event by uniting our two schools and working together.

“We hope to welcome families from all over Colchester.”

The event will take place on Thursday, November 7 at Prettygate Infant and Junior School in Plume Avenue, Colchester.

Nikki Whiteford, co-chairwoman of the Home Farm School Association, said: “We are very excited to be working closely with Friends of Prettygate to organise what we hope will be an amazing fireworks display.

“This event is a great way to build relations with another school and really unite the whole community and we hope this year’s event will be the first of many.”

The event will open at 5.15pm, with the fireworks starting at 6.45pm.
