WALES’ largest careers fair is to be held at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru.

SkillsCymru will take place on Thursday October 17. It is expected more than 2,000 young people, graduates and job seekers will attend the event. It will be open between 9.30am and 3pm.

It is a free annual event and is supported by the Welsh Government to promote skills in Wales and inspire young people to explore the different vocational routes and future career options available to them.

It will host more than 30 employers from across north Wales who will provide first-hand advice and guidance to young people on the options available to them in the next steps of their career.

These employers include Airbus UK, Cambrian Training and Kellogg’s.

This year there will also be Get Skilled Stands to help visitors experience the skills needed for various careers and to showcase a wide range of industries in Wales.

These stands will offer in depth knowledge from a range of industries including the emergency services, Big Ideas Wales and Cyber Discovery who help visitors discover new talents through.

A parents’ evening will also take place on October 16, between 5pm to 7pm for guardians and parents who wish to receive advice and discover the career options are available for their children.

Ken Skates, minister for economy and transport, said: “SkillsCymru helps inspire students to explore what career and vocational routes are available to them.

“Through inspiring the next generation of workers, we are helping equip everyone with the right skills to support them in reaching their full potential and contributing to the future economy."

He added: “SkillsCymru provides young people with the opportunity to seek expert advice and speak to employers and training providers to help support them wherever they are on the employment ladder.”

There will also be a variety of interactive stands at the event including The Cake Crew, whose Terri Roberts said: “As a growing business we are excited to attend the event this year to let the community know about our employment opportunities and commitment to talent progression. This year, we are looking forward to including lots of examples of our success stories as well as the wide range of jobs we have within the organisation that perhaps people are not aware of and, of course, cupcakes.

“We are keen to attract young people at the start of their career journey, to utilise the wide range of fresh ideas and skills they bring to the market, and hopefully to be the first to engage bright new minds with a view to retaining their skills."
