A much-loved chocolate shop which was forced to close due to falling sales is making a special return this Christmas.

Minerva Chocolates, in Eld Lane, Colchester, said it would close at the end of last year despite staff trying everything to reduce costs.

Business owner Alan Edwards had said it would not make commercial sense for the business to stay open.

However a notice appeared in the shop window saying the shop will open next month, this time in the High Street. It said: "Yes, your favourite chocolate shop will be opening here on November 6 at 10am.

"We will be the same, same lovely fresh chocolates from Belgium, beautifully wrapped gift boxes for Christmas, same people to serve you."

Opening hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
