CARE home residents in Colchester got dressed up and were treated to a fun-filled day of themed activities.
Colonia Court Care Home hosted a Mad Hatter’s tea party for residents as part of Bupa’s Silver Sunday scheme.
The scheme aims to combat social isolation and loneliness by helping older people feel valued and connected with the community around them.
Residents of Colonia Court created their own costumes based on Lewis Carroll classic Alice in Wonderland in preparation for the tea party and the home was visited by some furry friends courtesy of J&C’s Party Pets and Madash Alpacas.
Musical entertainment was provided throughout the day by Martyn Allen.
Dawn Kirkland, activities co-ordinator at the home, said: “It was wonderful and a really lovely day.
“Over the past few weeks residents have been making hats and things in preparation.
“They were getting more and more excited as time went on.
“They got to choose all the food which we had on the table.
“There were lots of family and friends who came a joined us for the day.
“It was great to see the residents smiles and they were laughing and giggling.
“We even had some residents getting up and dancing.”
