A NEW film club is being launched as part of a campaign to support independent businesses.

South Lanes After Dark is part of the South Lanes Project, which works to promote businesses in St Isaac’s Walk, Eld Lane, Trinity Street and Scheregate Steps.

As part of the project film graduate Emilia Rolewicz launched a new film club for the area.

She said: “I studied film at King’s College in London and was always inspired by the range of films at independent cinemas.

“I think it’s great Curzon and Firstsite in Colchester are showing independent film releases, but I’ve always wanted to do something a bit more alternative.

“For instance coming up at the end of October, South Lanes After Dark will be putting on a Season of the Witch mini film season. I hope to do themed mini film seasons monthly, showing three free films.

“As The South Lanes Project is all about showcasing the variety of independent and unique businesses, I thought, why not bring that spirit to a film and arts spin-off?”
