A man was left with head injuries after being punched in the face while he waited for a taxi.

Essex Police is investigating the incident which happened outside McDonalds in High Street, Colchester, on July 21.

The force has today released CCTV pictures of two people they want to speak to in connection with an assault and a public order offence.

The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was waiting for a taxi when a verbal altercation began at around 11.30pm.

A man is then alleged to have punched the victim in the face, leaving him with significant head injuries.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Following initial enquiries, we are asking for your help to locate this man and woman, who officers are keen to speak with in relation to the incident.

"The man is described as being of large build, between 5ft 4ins tall and 5ft 8ins tall. He is believed to be between 40 and 50 years of age.

"The woman is believed to be of a similar age and between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 6ins tall. She has blonde hair.
