DANNY Scopes believes Concord Rangers are going head-to-head with Dartford at a dangerous time of the season.

Darts make the trip to the Aspect Arena for a National League South clash tomorrow having parted company with ex-Beach Boys chief Adam Flanagan and joint-manager Jamie Coyle last week.

As a result, Tony Burman is in interim charge of Dartford - who have claimed just one win so far this term - and Scopes is cautious ahead of the contest.

The Concord boss said: “They have struggled in the early stages of the season and they also went through a managerial change recently.

“A number of injuries have caused a hindrance for them and it’s never nice to see a manager, or joint-managers in this case, lose their job.

“I think that makes them a dangerous animal because we don’t know whether they will look to play the same way as before or have a different formation.

“Tony Burman has stepped in as manager and has done it before, so they will be well organised.

“It’s a dangerous game for us and, admittedly, we are probably playing them at the worst possible time because of the managerial change.”

While Dartford have made a stuttering start to the campaign, Concord are threatening to challenge for the play-off places for a second consecutive campaign despite a large overhaul during the summer.

Scopes took charge in May and saw the bulk of last term’s squad depart.

However, Scopes recruited well and the Beach Boys head into the weekend sitting fifth in the standings.

Following a minor blip, which saw Concord go winless for three outings, Scopes’ side have gone onto claim seven of the nine points available in their latest trio of fixtures.

A comfortable victory over Welling United has been followed by a late draw with Braintree Town and last-gasp triumph at Hampton & Richmond Borough.

And Scopes is eager to extend the Beach Boys’ fine run of form.

“Although we had a run of games where we didn’t win, we were close in each of them,” added Scopes.

“We played extremely well in the opening weeks of the season and it was always going to be hard to maintain that because you can’t win every game in this league.

“It’s important for us to be competitive in every game between now and the end of the season.

“It would be great to make it four games undefeated.”
