FUNDRAISERS sweated it out as they endured a gruelling bootcamp session to support two charities.

Colchester Bootcamp held its second charity event at Abbey Field.

This time more than 60 people squatted, lifted and stretched to raise money and awareness for the Samaritans and mental health charity Mind.

Gabriel Beckett, who runs the bootcamp, said: “It was all about raising awareness of mental health and the charities which help people.

“We wanted the message to be about people knowing they can reach out and they are not alone.

“The day was amazing and we had more than 60 members turn up along with two guest instructors from other bootcamps.

“We explained to everyone we were going to push them outside their comfort zone but we would support them however hard it got.”

To help boost the fundraising Gabriel also had his head shaved.

The event helped to raise £1,000 which will be split between the two organisations.

Gabriel added: “This is the second one we have done.

“I have only been running the bootcamp for a year and we are trying to get charity events in every three or four months.”

Gabriel said the bootcamp wanted to give something back to the town and has also held litter picks around Abbey Fields.
