COLCHESTER'S High Stewart is raising money for a statue of two famous sisters by hosting his popular history talks.

Sir Bob Russell took his Colchester history talk outside of the borough as he spoke to a group of retired Government employees at Finchingfield Guildhall.

In exchange for his visit to neighbouring district Braintree, the group made a donation to Sir Bob's statue campaign, which will hopefully see sisters Jane and Ann Taylor immortalised in Colchester.

In 1806 Jane who published a children's poem which today is known throughout the world as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

Sir Bob offers talks on Colchester's history, his 18 years as MP, the history of the town's schools and what his role of High Steward entails.

Contact sir.bob.russell@hotmail.com or 35 Catchpool Road, Colchester CO1 1XN to find out more.

His next two-hour heritage tour starts from Colchester Arts Centre on Sunday from 10am.
