FRINTON ace Tina Newnes was in scintillating form at the Colchester and District Tennis League finals.

The event took place at Frinton Lawn Tennis Club, in Holland Road.

Newnes, who plays at The Essex, won both her finals, including the over-45 mixed doubles with partner Ian Davis.

The duo prevailed 7-6, 6-2 after a hard-fought match lasting two hours against The Essex pair Tim Elliott and Fiona Courtauld.

Newnes, who lives in Frinton, then won the restricted mixed doubles with partner Richard Arrell.

This was after another tough contest, eventually winning 7-5, 6-3 against Lee Bodfield and Georgia Gordon-Martin, of David Lloyd Colchester.

Colchester Mayor Nick Cope presented the cups.

Newnes' latest success caps a brilliant season, during which she helped The Essex win both the ladies and mixed premier league titles in the Colchester and District League.
