SHOPPERS have helped raise almost £1,000 for a cancer charity.
A team of volunteers collected £982 at Morrisons in Maldon, donated by staff and regulars. The money will help the charity support the terminally ill and their families.
Sarah Millerick, Marie Curie community fundraiser in Essex, said: “We are so grateful for the amazing support from all the staff, shoppers and volunteers at Morrisons. Their generosity means we raised a fantastic amount.
“Too many people don’t get the care and support they need at the end of their lives, but together we can change that.”
The charity has appealed to volunteers to set up a fundraising team in Maldon.
Sarah added: “Joining your local fundraising group is a really great way to raise funds for Marie Curie while also meeting new people and having lots of fun.
“We hope there are plenty of people in Maldon and the surrounding area who could give up a few hours each month to get involved. We are looking for individuals who are organised, have great communication skills and an eye for detail.”
For anyone interested in joining the group there is a meeting at the Black Rabbit pub on Maldon High Street at 7pm on Tuesday, September 10. Contact Sarah on 07540 675398 to find out more.
