A village pub will be handing out free pints to dog owners who bring their four-legged friends for a visit on National Dog Day.

The Yew Tree in The Causeway, Great Horkesley, is offering up the deal for Bank Holiday Monday on August 26.

The pub is inviting pup-loving locals to enjoy a complimentary glass of their favourite tipple on the house – all they have to do is bring their dog to the bar with them when ordering.

There will also be treats for pooches to enjoy.

A study by pub brand Chef & Brewer found 55 per cent of dog owners would choose to take their canine companion to the pub with them over their partner, friend or family member.

Ryan Miller, general manager at the Yew Tree, said: “We’re a nation of dog-lovers and our research just goes to show that our four-legged friends really do make the perfect pub companions, especially after a long walk in the countryside.

“That’s why, to celebrate National Dog Day, we’re offering a special treat for Great Horkesley dog owners who just love spending time with their furry friends, by offering them a complimentary refreshing drink to enjoy whilst winding down and relaxing in the paw-fect setting.

“We look forward to welcoming dog owners next week.”

A range of drinks including wines, cask ales, craft beers, spirits and soft drinks will be available. Redemption is limited to one drink per person.
