A VILLAGE church’s prayers have been answered after it received thousands of pounds to help carry out a revamp.
All Saints’ Church, in Rayne, has received a grant of £4,500.
The donation was given by the Allchurches Trust, one of the biggest grant-making charities in the UK, which helps churches nationwide.
An All Saints’ spokesman said: “It’s almost 40 years since our church underwent any major renovation.
“The church council decided to undergo a refurbishment of the church to ensure it is passed on to future generations in a fit and improved state.
“The changes may encourage Rayne residents and others to see All Saints’ Church as a spiritual centre that they can feel comfortable in.
“We hope to improve heating and lighting and install a kitchen facility, new floor, seating and draught screen to reduce our carbon footprint by retaining heat in the church.
“This grant goes a long way in helping us with our ambitious plans.”
The work is expected to start after Easter 2020.
