VISITORS to Colchester Castle will be able to step into the past when a special weekend of events arrives.
The castle will play host to a re-enactment weekend featuring Roman, Viking and Medieval invaders.
The event, on August 24 and 25, is in collaboration with Historical Promotions.
Families will be able to take a journey back in time and learn more about the key moments of Colchester’s history.
Admission is free after castle entry fee and visitors can dress up if they wish.
Julie Young, Colchester Council's culture boss, said: “There will be plenty of good old-fashioned family fun on offer over the Bank Holiday weekend.
"Take in the costumed re-enactors, learn more about what life would have been like in Colchester’s past, and take the opportunity to find out more by stopping and chatting to the team from Historical Promotions. This is a weekend where history comes alive.”
